Epilogue
The eyeless guards opened the door for her as they
always did, not knowing what it was she was carrying, covered in
blankets now. Not knowing whether she would please him or upset him, she
stepped into the room. She bowed as deep as she could. “My Lord.” She
said. She felt His breathing, she smelled the foul air. “Have you gotten
the child?” He roared. “No, my Lord, but…” She felt the whip hit her a
few times before she was able to continue to speak. “My Lord, I might
have something that might please you even more.” “Nothing can please me
more than the girl.” He roared now, hitting her again. “Not even the
queen’s crown?” She asked, and He immediately fell silent.
“What?” He said, surprisingly soft. She had definitely caught Him by
surprise now. “The queen’s Crown, my Lord. Illuvia created it… merging
the pearl of light with the crown of the heir. It is not the original,
but she seemed confident it has the same power as the original.” “Show
it to me.” She unwrapped the crown quickly, and held it up for Him to
see. It’s light had faded now, fallen into the shadows. She felt the
crown being taken from her hands. She could almost feel his content.
“Illuvia sure did her work. This might not be what I desire… but it will
help me just as well. Maybe now, our time has come.”
